Leola Collins Childress, 63, Windsor, KY (1953-2017)

She was a member of Good Tidings Baptist Church and retired from Fruit of the Loom. Leola loved the outdoors, her animals and feeding people. She was an aunt, great aunt and best friend to Brandon Davenport, Benjamin Andrew, Jason Andrew and many others. She welcomed any and all, treating them like family and she was always ready to lend a hand and tackle any project. She was a great "grandmother" to many children. She was the daughter of the late Maxine & Joe Collins. Her husband, Alan (Jeffery) Childress, survives

Leola (Collins) Childress, 63, Windsor, KY, died Monday February 13, 2017 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10amCT, Thursday February 16, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY with Bro. Garlin Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Birdie Russell Cemetery, HWY 910, Windsor, KY. Visitation will be 5pm-9pmCT, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the funeral home.

She was born on Saturday March 21, 1953 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Maxine & Joe Collins. She died in Windsor, KY, on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

She was a member of Good Tidings Baptist Church and retired from Fruit of the Loom. Leola loved the outdoors, her animals and feeding people. She was an aunt, great aunt and best friend to Brandon Davenport, Benjamin Andrew, Jason Andrew and many others.

She welcomed any and all, treating them like family and she was always ready to lend a hand and tackle any project. She was a great "grandmother" to many children.

She is survived by:
  • Her husband: Alan Jeffery "Chicken" Childress, Windsor, KY

  • Brothers: Charles Phillip Collins, Russell Springs, KY; Joe Stanley Collins, Columbia, KY; and Jack Collins, Columbia, KY

  • In-laws: Paul and Cathy Davenport

  • And nephew: Brandon Davenport
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Billy Allen Collins, Harold David Collins, Paula Collins Foley and Helen Collins. Mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Mayrene Childress.
