James D. Valentine, age 75, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY.

Funeral service will be at 12pmNoonCT, Friday, February 10, 2017, at Russell Springs United Methodist Church, 226 Jamestown Street, Russell Springs, KY. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Russell Springs United Methodist Church and after 9amCT, on Friday, at the church. Officiating clergy will be Bro. Jim Kingry and Bro. Dennis Price. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at Eli, Russell County, KY.


He was the former Fire Chief at Eli Volunteer Fire Department and active member of Russell Springs United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sondra Valentine, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Five children: John Valentine (Verna), Florida; Jeffrey Valentine, Florida; Anita Valentine, Florida; Scarlett Devine (Carl), Lexington, KY; and Israel Burton, Russell Springs, KY

  • Ten grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Valentine.
