Page Candler: Mystery Russell Co., KY plant ID -Running Cedar Comments re photo 70949 Green plant near Lake Cumberland shore a mystery Page Candler writes: Looks a bit like running cedar. My father used to bring some of this to the house for Christmas decorations. --Page CandlerInspired by receipt of Page Candler's answer, we're adding this link: Wikipedia Running Cedar, which calls the plant a club moss, and says that the plant was once commercially raised to be sold as Christmas decorations, as Page Candler suggests. And for those interested in renewable energy sources, see Wikipedia: Pyréolophore which, as everybody knows, was the first internal combustion engine. It was powered by a derivative of a club moss. - EW This story was posted on 2017-02-04 06:04:09
