MCHS students participate in Race to the Top and GearUp Kentucky trips Deena Hurt, Gear UP College and Career Advisor and Eric Sexton, College & Career Counselor through GRREC's RTT-D grant coordinated and attended each trip. Click on headline for complete story By Eric Sexton College & Career Readiness Counselor, Metcalfe County High School This fall approximately 168 MCHS students participated in 6 educational trips provided by resources from Race to the Top (RTT-D) and GearUP Kentucky grants. The series, now in its 4th year, outlined trips to colleges, technical schools and industry based on student interest and need. Private colleges such as Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville University were visited. Kentucky technical schools Somerset and South Central KY Community & Technical College were also visited where students learned about a vast array of certificate and associate degree programs. Students also visited public universities such as Eastern KY University & Murray State University and enjoyed touring their programs and campus. Additionally, a trip to Geek Squad City just south of Louisville was well attended by a group of Mr. Justin Smith's technology students.
