J.O.Y Ministries 2016 Recap J.O.Y Ministries had total budget of $28,478.65 for 2016. Report which follows details how that money was used to improve lives of families and children and others in the past year Click on headline for complete report By Maggie Coleman for J.O.Y. Ministries, 212 Public Square, Columbia, KY J.O.Y Ministries wants to take this opportunity to thank our partnering churches, businesses, individuals and students that have made our 2016 year so successful and allow you to see what your support has done for the Kingdom. JOY was in charge of all the food prep, service and serving of food to the students at ACHS Project Graduation for 2016. This year our foreign mission including supporting missionaries to the Dominican Republic (2), Paraguay (1) and Argentina (1) as well a women's mission programs. U.S. missions included: in the spring 18 youth and adult chaperones took a mission trip to Eastern Kentucky and worked in a homeless shelter/soup kitchen and had a block party for families in low- income area housing. As well as helped sponsor a man to go help with flooding in Louisiana. From June-October we ran the JOY van for children to receive free "Square Meals" from the Farmer's Market. 3 of our JOY members were trained in Georgia to facilitate Beauty for Ashes retreats through Adventures in Missions. We helped 50 of our local children from low income families receive Christmas gifts and 25 families received food baskets. We also partnered with the local Salvation Army in donating food items to be distributed throughout our community during Christmas as well as partnered with the US Civil Corps and Dream Depot to provide a Community Christmas Meal and toy give away. We had our 5 th annual JOY mission week this past summer; with approximately 100 middle high school students along with college age and adult workers. During this week we were given the opportunity to stay at 3 Trees church this summer, as our camp continues to grow, which meant our need for accommodations is also growing! We had the opportunity to do a variety of community service projects this summer. We did backyard bible schools in several low income areas, cleaned and organized out storage buildings, sent out meals to 300+ people, cleaned and painted various areas, worked at the Crisis Resource Center, went to adult day facilities and ministered to the elderly and had our back to school bash in which we invited 100 students to receive a voucher for new shoes, new backpack, gently used clothes and a new haircut to start school as well as our youth cooked and served each family that came a meal. During missions week we had 9 young people accept Christ as their Savior, 18 rededicate their lives to Christ, two baptized and 10 more claimed God was calling them to some kind of ministry. This year we opened the JOY Crisis Resource Center (CRC) in April of 2016. This allowed us to open a food pantry, clothing closet and assist individuals with expenses involved in losing their home or for those that currently were homeless. We had approximately 2000 volunteer hours documented from April. In December at the center. We were able to help in the following ways through the CRC this past year: - Approximately 500 families received food, clothing, furniture and or toiletries through services at the Crisis Center.
