KY Transportation Cabinet District 3 snow update 4amCT Friday road condition update. Interstate 65, U.S. routes and most main KY routes have greatly improved since the winter system moved out last night. Spotty coverage and icy spots still exist on these main roadways. KYTC District 3 had prepared for the storm with 20,000 tons of salt, 135 Snowfighters and 62 KYTC Trucks. KYTC District 3 covers Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren Counties By Wes Watt, Public Information Officer KY Transportation Cabinet, District 3, Bowling Green, KY BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (6 Jan 2017) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 crews continue to battle icy and snowy road conditions into the early morning hours on Friday. Crews mobilized and began treating the roadways yesterday evening when a snow & ice event moved through the area leaving hazardous road conditions in its wake. Interstate 65, U.S. routes and most main KY routes have greatly improved since the winter system moved out last night. However, spotty coverage and icy spots still exist on these main roadways. More rural routes will be even more hazardous. Motorists need to use extreme caution, slower speeds and leave plenty of space between vehicles if travel can't be avoided this morning. Motorists need to be especially careful when approaching intersections and making turns. Crews across the district worked overnight in shifts and will continue to work throughout the day. As day breaks travel conditions should greatly improve after the sun comes up. This story was posted on 2017-01-06 04:15:30
