Glenna Cowan, 56, Adair County, KY (1960-2017)

She was a member of a very large, respected Northeast Adair County, KY family. She was a native of Adair County and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Walker & Doris McGaha Cowan. With her death, nine of 19 siblings born to Walker Walker & Doris McGaha Cowan survive.

Glenna Cowan, 56, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, January 2, 2017 at 9:32pmET at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Matthew Cowan and Bro. Clifton Cowan officiating. Burial will be in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6020 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Thursday, January 5, 2016, at the funeral home.

Glenna Cowan, 56, Adair County, KY (1960-2017)


She was born October 21, 1960, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Walker & Doris McGaha Cowan. She died January 2, 2017, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 56 years, two months, and 13 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Sam, W.T., Kenny, Cassius & Leonard Cowan, and four sisters, Peggy Fudge, Carol Luttrell, Patricia Montgomery & Gertrude Burton. She received her master's degree in human services & counseling and was a social worker.

Survivors include:
  • Seven brothers; Darrell (Lisa), Phillip (Sherry) & Calvin (Bernice) Cowan all of Columbia, KY; Roger Cowan of Montpelier, KY; Donnie (Phyllis) Cowan of Campbellsville, KY; Vaughn (Connie) Cowan of Cane Valley, KY; and Clifton Cowan of Russell Springs, KY

  • Two sisters: Leoda (Donnie) Curry of Columbia & Dora (Charlie) Ames of Illinois


  • Several nieces & nephews, including four special nieces: Allison Bardin, Amy Mouser, BreAnna Coffey and Brooke Cowan
