William Toy - Tweetie - Powell, Taylor Co., KY (1933-2016)

He was a veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and he and Betty spent many years as caretaker of Miller Park. He was also the owner of Powell's Coating. He was of the Holiness faith and attended Jesus Name Church. His wife of 47 years, Betty Yates, survives. He leaves 30 direct and seven step living descendants.

William Toy "Tweetie" Powell, Jr., 83, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 12:59pmET, Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Campbellsville.

The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. David Stone,Rev. Tommy Stone and Elder Reual Boils. Burial will be in Jesus Name Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, December 27, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

William Toy "Tweetie" Powell, Jr. of Campbellsville, KY, was the son of the late William Toy Powell, Sr. and Ida Betsy Stone Powell. He was born January 3, 1933, in Union County, KY. He died at Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

He was of the Holiness faith and attended Jesus Name Church.

He served his country honorable in the United States Navy.

Tweetie was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and he and Betty spent many years as caretaker of Miller Park. He was also the owner of Powell's Coating.

He united in marriage to Betty Yates September 2, 1969.

Besides his wife, Betty Powell of Campbellsville, he is survived by:
  • Two sons and two daughters: William Toy "Butch" Powell, III and wife, Ashley of Greensburg, KY; Danny Lee Powell and wife, Dorothy Jean and Kalah Brann and husband, Bruce of Henderson, KY; and LaRhonda Webb and husband, Danny Joe of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three step-children: Debbie Sharp of Campbellsville, KY; Steve Sharp and wife, Tina of Henderson, KY; and Terry Sharp and wife, Edna of Lebanon, KY

  • Ten grandchildren: Shiann Powell and Cheryl Brockman of Campbellsville, KY; Madelyn Powell, Addison Powell and Daniel Joseph Webb of Greensburg, KY; Jason Brann, Phillip Brann, Sara Nordhoff and Christy Lyons of Henderson, KY; and Linda Totten of Roberts, KY

  • Four step-grandchildren: Jennifer Sharp of Henderson, KY; Amanda Morris of Evansville, IN; Michael Lowery of Florence, KY; and Adam Pittman of Lebanon, KY

  • Sixteen great-grandchildren

  • Two sisters: Claudia Mortis and Betty Stone of Corydon, KY

  • And several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Tweetie was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Brann and two brothers and two sisters: Marshall Powell, Reuben Powell, Jewell Roy and Florence Wilson.
