Ms. Jean Gibson Irby, 68, Burkesville, KY (1948-2016)

Jean was a talented entertainer. She started singing as a child and was a regular performer at Renfro Valley. The only thing that outshined her musical talent was her ability as a cook. She was a member of Burkesville First United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Campbellsville College and her Master’s Degree and Rank I at Western Kentucky University. She was a school teacher for the Adair County Board of Education and the Cumberland County Board of Education, beginning her teaching career in 1970 and retiring in 2001. She was a member of a highly regarded Breeding, KY, area family, and a resident of Burkesville, KY, at the time of her death. Her final resting place will be in the Fudge Cemetery in Adair Co., KY

Ms. Jean Gibson Irby, age 68, of Burkesville, KY, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services for Ms. Jean Irby will be conducted on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 1pmCT, at the Burkesville First United Methodist Church, 126 S Main Street, Burkesville, KY. Burial will follow in the Fudge Cemetery,847 Independence Ridge Road, Breeding, KY Breeding, KY. The family will receive friends after 3pmCT, Saturday, November 5, 2016, until the funeral hour on Sunday.



Ms. Jean Gibson Irby, 68, Burkesville, KY (1948-2016)

She was born in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, on Tuesday, June 15, 1948, the daughter of Albert Waldon & Mabel Myers Gibson. She died Thursday, November 3, 2016, in Burkesville, KY, at the age of the age of 68 years, four months, and 19 days.

Jean was a talented entertainer. She started singing as a child and was a regular performer at Renfro Valley. The only thing that outshined her musical talent was her ability as a cook. She was a member of Burkesville First United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Campbellsville College and her Master’s Degree and Rank I at Western Kentucky University. She was a school teacher for the Adair County Board of Education and the Cumberland County Board of Education, beginning her teaching career in 1970 and retiring in 2001.
She is survived by:
  • Her daughters: Micaela Irby Riemer (and Eric) of Glasgow, KY; Laurel Irby (and David Feuston) of Burkesville, KY

  • Her brother: Freddy Gibson of Breeding, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Finnegan "Finn", Maddox; Maddox Crewe Irby-Feuston, and Rhett Michael Riemer

  • Her step-mother: Mildred Gibson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Her best friend: Vanda Jo Morgan of Burkesville, KY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Jo Lynn Gibson.
