Former CU Tiger Dii'jon Allen-Jordan chosen in NBA draft He makes program history when chosen as the 102nd pick by the 206 NBA D-League Draft on Sunday, October 30, 2016. Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Jordan Alves, CU sports information director CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - For the first time in program history, a former Campbellsville University student-athlete has been selected in the NBA D-League Draft. Dii'jon Allen-Jordan, an NAIA All-American for the Tigers last season, was selected as the 102nd pick in the 2016 NBA D-League Draft on Sunday. Allen-Jordan was selected as the 4th Round's 12th pick by the Los Angeles Defenders - an affiliate of the L.A. Lakers. "I wasn't worried about what round I got drafted in," said Allen-Jordan in a recent interview. "I just knew that I would love to be drafted to a team. It really didn't matter where I was going to end up because I'm just ready to get part of a team and to bring everything I can towards winning. I'm a winner and that's what I expect to bring to the table." On August 14, Allen-Jordan was invited to attend the D-League Tryouts and took advantage of the opportunity with every team in attendance. Allen-Jordan is represented by Michael Hart and Hart Sports Management. Out of the 50 players looking for an opportunity to live out their dreams of playing in the NBA, Allen-Jordan was the lone NAIA member invited to the tryout. Two National Tryout participants in the past, Dwight Buycks and Dennis Horner, achieved the ultimate goal of eventually reaching the NBA and that's where Allen-Jordan has his future set on. "The journey was a little hard because I was at home waiting and wondering," said Allen-Jordan. "It was starting to stress me out. But with a great support system around me, they helped me stay focused and be ready once the phone call came in. I am grateful for this opportunity to live out my dreams of playing in the NBA." The NBA Development League will tip off its 16th season with a record 22 teams on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016. All teams will play a 50-game schedule between November and April, and for the second consecutive season, every NBA D-League team is singly affiliated with its NBA parent club. Allen-Jordan, the 6-foot-6 small forward from Plainfield, N.J. was named an All-American last season for the Tigers. Allen-Jordan picked up the honor for three different associations - Third-Team NAIA All-American, Second-Team Sporting News All-American and First-Team NCCAA All-American. He was also named the NCCAA Mid-East Region Player of the Year Allen-Jordan led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.3 points and grabbing 9.5 boards per game. He finished the season with 16 double-doubles - which ranked him tied with NAIA Player of the Year Deondre McWhorter for the Mid-South Conference lead and also tied for fifth in the country. He finished ranked No. 3 in the NAIA in total rebounds (343), No. 6 in blocks (69), No. 12 in steals (61), and No. 17 in field goal percentage (54.1%). During the national tournament, Allen-Jordan averaged 18.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Allen-Jordan helped lead Campbellsville to its second NAIA Fab Four appearance in program history. He was named to the NAIA All-Tournament team to cap off his season. "We are so happy for DJ (Dii'jon) here at Campbellsville," said coach Brent Vernon. "He has worked extremely hard for this opportunity and it is well deserved. I was fortunate enough to talk to him yesterday and he is leaving for Los Angeles today. He is very excited and he should be. This is the first step to a long professional career for him and we couldn't be more happy for him."
