By Anthony Latessa News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team defeated Asbury (Wilmore, KY) in three sets on Tuesday night, October 25, 2016, winning 25-8, 25-22 and 25-17 at Biggers Sports Center. After hitting .355 in the opening set, Lindsey Wilson managed just a .146 and .096 mark in the final two sets to finish the match at .177. But the Blue Raider defense limited the Eagles to a .008 mark for the night. Elly Burke led the Blue Raiders (24-1) in kills with 10. Carolynne Silva had nine kills, Makenzie Montano had eight and Lauren Streets recorded seven. Montano had a match-high 31 assists. Three Blue Raiders posted double-digit digs led by Eileen Acuna's 15. Alexa Just had 11 while Caitlyn Tino had 10. The Blue Raiders used an 11-0 run to propel them to a 25-8 victory in the first set. Lindsey Wilson hit .355 and held the Eagles (11-12) to a -.147 hitting percentage. Montano recorded five kills and 10 assists in the set. Lindsey Wilson trailed by four twice in the second set but was able to come out with a 25-22 victory. Trailing 16-13 in the set, the Blue Raiders scored five unanswered to take an 18-16 lead. Burke recorded five kills in the set. The Blue Raiders took the third set 25-17 despite hitting just .096. Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead.
