Catherine Janes, 71, Columbia, KY (1945-2016)

Catherine was a member of Dutch Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, had worked at Circle R Restaurant, and was working at Crammer Dining Center at Lindsey Wilson College. She was a member of a large, respected Adair County family. She was the daughter of the late Jesse & Emma T. Hadley Burton. Her husband, David Janes, survives. She leaves 10 direct living descendants.

Catherine Janes, age 71 years, of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 8:40pmCT, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY after a brief illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday Oct. 22, 2016, at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greenburg Street, Columbia, KY. Bro. Ronnie Pitcock will officiate, and interment will follow in Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT on Friday, October 21.

She was born on July 14, 1945 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Jesse & Emma T. Hadley Burton. She died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the age of 71 years, three months, and five days.

She is survived by the following:
  • Her husband, David A. Janes of Columbia, KY.
  • Her sons, Carl L. Smith & his wife Stella of Columbia, KY; an d Samuel J. Janes & his wife Kelly of Lexington, KY
  • Two sisters, Bernice (Avery) Rooks of Columbia, KY Linda Bell of Columbia, KY
  • Eight Grandchildren
  • Several nieces and nephews
  • A host of other relatives & friends
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Geraldine Burton, Fredia Ruth Burton, Edith Streeval, Glenna Compton & Margie Burton Four brothers Jr. Burton, Golen Burton, Marshall Burton, Hueston Burton, Half-brother Odie Burton & a half-sister Helen Irvin.

Catherine was a member of Dutch Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, had worked at Circle R Restaurant, and was working at Crammer Dining Center at Lindsey Wilson College.
