'Silent City Tour' is celebrating a major anniversary this October. Four Weeks of Special Monday Night Events.

Tonight, Monday, October 17, 2016, features "Voices from the Past.

Voices from the past features a compilation of oral history interviews dating to the 1970s and '80s with local historians and personalities. Conducted by Mike Watson, and including:
  • Mrs. Ruth Stotts Allen, interview from 11 January 1983--education, one-room schools.

  • Mrs. Hattie Chapman Traylor, interview from 9 May 1979--home life.

  • Mrs. Dimple Reeves Yates, interview from circa 1979--home life, schools, etc.

  • Mrs. Pearl Aaron Gadberry, interview from 28 February 1983--basket-making, home life.
October is Family History Month across the nation. Throughout October there will be historical photos of Adair County, Columbia, and its people on display at the library during business hours. Please stop in to reminisce and browse the Genealogy Department.
