Pahkasalo collects MSC, NAIA honors

By Charlie Balcom

Aleksi Pahkasalo is the Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday. This is his first weekly honor of the season and eighth of his career.

In addition, Pahkasalo is the NAIA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, officials from the national office announced on Tuesday.

The senior midfielder from Vantaa, Finland, scored seven total goals in two games last week for the Blue Raiders.

The NAIA recognition marks the third time in Pahkasalo’s career that he has earned the national honor. He is the lone Blue Raider in program history to earn the award multiple times.

The week resulted in Pahkasalo’s 10th and 11th multi-goal games of his career, including his fifth and sixth games with at least three goals.

Earlier this week, he was named the Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the eighth time in his career, the most conference weekly awards for any field player in program history.

Pahkasalo leads the team in points (21) and goals (10) in just five appearances this year. His goal total is the 11th highest in the NAIA.
