Lindsey Wilson Swimming topped by Cumberlands

The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team suffered a 144-60 dual setback to Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday at the Holloway Center Natatorium, and the Lindsey Wilson men's swim team suffered a 139-66 dual loss to Cumberlands. The Blue Raiders women collected three wins on the day, all coming from individual events. The Blue Raiders men were able to capture just four individual event wins on the day against the Patriots.


In the women's competition, Emily Wood won the first individual race of the day as she captured the victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11 minutes and 25.72 seconds. She topped the next closest competitor by over six seconds.

Jessica Macdonald followed with a win in the 200-yard freestyle. Her time of 2:00.23 won the event by .23 seconds. Macdonald would follow up with a win in the 100-yard freestyle. She touched in the wall in 55.49 seconds, edging out Cumberlands' Brittany Litke by just under half of a second.

Lindsey Wilson swimmers added a number of top-three finishes on the day, including third-place performances from Kylie Gehefer, Wood, Bailey Seitz, two from Ines Khiyara and a third from the 200-yard freestyle relay team.

For the men, Iker Larzabal captured the first LWC win of the afternoon after he touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of one minute and 49.57 seconds. He narrowly edged out the second-place finisher from Cumberlands by .17 seconds.

Clemens Paetzold collected his first victory of the day after posting a time of 2:01.06 in the 200-yard individual medley. He won the event by just under two seconds. Paetzold nabbed his second win in the 100-yard backstroke with his time of 55.41.

Jonas Mueller accounted for the final Blue Raider win on the day as he took home the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 59.92 seconds. His time was good enough for a national "A" standard.

The Blue Raiders added a trio of runner-up finishes on the day.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Paetzold, Mueller, Jose Prado de Lima and Larzabal took second with a time of 1:38.17, falling just .15 seconds behind the winning time. Travis Durocher added a second place in the 100-yard butterfly with his time of 55.54 seconds. Larzabal accounted for the final second place with his runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle.
