LWC to host 2016 Mountain Bike Weekend

The Blue Raider cycling team hosts the Lindsey Wilson College 2016 Mountain Bike Race Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day event kicks off at the Cycling Complex on Saturday before shifting to Green River Lake State Park on Sunday.

Lindenwood (Mo.), Marian (Ind.), Ripon (Wis.) and McKendree (Ill.) are scheduled to participate over the weekend.


Saturday begins with short track cross country racing. The men's 'C/D' heat begins at 8amCT followed by women's 'B/C' at 8:30amCT. The remaining short track heats are as follows: men's 'B' at 9amCT, women's 'A' at 9:30amCT and men's 'A' at 10:10amCT.

Racing concludes on Saturday with all categories of dual slalom. Qualifying begins at 12pmCT. The dual slalom course contains step downs, step ups, doubles, rollers and rock gardens.

Cross country racing begins at 8amCT on Sunday with the four-lap men's 'A.' Next will be the three-lap women's 'A' at 8:05amCT and the two-lap men's 'B' at 8:10amCT. Cross country racing concludes with the women's 'B/C' and men's 'C/D' at 8:15amCT and 8:20amCT, respectively.

The cross country course is a 5.8-mile loop consisting mostly of single-track with some technical sections.

The downhill component of competition begins at 12pmCT on Sunday. The downhill course consists of timed runs.

Lindsey Wilson last competed at the High Country Collegiate Mountain Bike Challenge hosted by Lee's McRae (N.C.). Kenneth Hall captured silver in the cross country men's 'A' collegiate while Jake Smith claimed fifth in the downhill men's 'A' collegiate.

Saturday's events are at the Cycling Complex on Bomar Heights in Columbia, Ky. and begin at 8amCT. Sunday's events are at Green River Lake State Park at 49 Kentahten Trail in Campbellsville, Ky. and begin at 8amCT.
