Cunningham and Cooks earn Player of the Week accolades

By Charlie Balcom

Nathan Cunningham is the Mid-South Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Allen Cooks is the MSC West Special Teams Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

The duo helped the seventh-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team to an 84-0 victory over Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) on Saturday at Blue Raider Stadium. Lindsey Wilson is now 5-0 on the year.

Cunningham led the Blue Raiders with 12 total tackles in the win over the Eagles. The Birmingham, Ala., native recorded 2-1/2 tackles for loss and had three solo tackles while helping the Lindsey Wilson defense record the first shutout in program history.

Cooks racked up 100 total punt return yards in the game on Saturday. He averaged 20 yards per punt return, while recording a long of 32 yards. Cooks also had 20 kick returns yards on his lone attempt of the afternoon.

Cunningham and Cooks both earn their first player of the week honor of the season and careers.
