Mr. Branson was a member of the Columbia Christian Church, a US Navy veteran, an electrician and cable networking installer for many years. He was a black powder enthusiast and was a contributing writer for On The Trail Magazine for several years.

Mike Branson, 66 years of the Montpelier Community in Adair County, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at his home after several months battling with cancer.

A memorial service will be held in October at the Columbia Christian Church, 206 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. The date and time will be announced later. Mike chose cremation with burial of his ashes to be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.



Mike Branson, 66, Adair County, KY (1950-2016)


Mike was born February 9, 1950 in East Chicago, IN. He was the the son of the late James Emmanuel Branson and Shirley Rose Crowe Branson, who survives. He died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at his home in Adair County, KY, at the age of 66 years, seven months, and 18 days. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother Randall Branson, two sisters Debra Zaradich and Judy Branson

He is survived by the following:
  • His mother: Shirley Rose Crowe Branson of Elizabethtown, KY

  • His wife: Kim Schmidt Branson of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons: David Gregory Branson, and Stephen Douglas Branson, both of Culver, IN

  • One step son: Louis Locander of Greenwood, IN

  • Two brothers: Douglas Branson of Elizabethtown, KY; and Gregory Branson of Merryville, IN

  • Two sisters: Carla Branson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Laura McCormick of Muncie, IN

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Two great grandchildren

  • And several nieces and nephews
