No LWC Volleyball hosts Shawnee State Sat 24 Sep 2016 By Matthew Wurzburger COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team looks to extend its program-record 41-match winning streak as they host Shawnee State (Ohio) Saturday morning at 11amCT, Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders (12-1, 3-1 Mid-South Conference) suffered their first loss of the season Thursday night against No. 10 Georgetown in four sets (22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 31-29). Lindsey Wilson outhit the Tigers .229 to .219 but could not put distance between itself and Georgetown. Grace Blomstedt recorded a career-high 16 kills on Thursday. Makenzie Montano's 48 assists marked a season high, and Caitlyn Tino set a season-best in digs with 31. The Bears (3-12, 0-5 MSC) enter Saturday having lost 10 of their last 11 matches with their last victory coming in four sets over Asbury (Ky.) on Sept. 17 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Lauren Helbig's big night led the way - the junior finished the match with 17 kills, six blocks and two aces. Deanna Smith recorded 43 assists in the winning effort. Shawnee State last played on Sept. 20 on the road against Georgetown (Ky.) The Bears lost in straight sets while hitting only .102 and allowing Georgetown to post a .409 attacking percentage. Lindsey Wilson defeated the Bears in straight sets earlier in the season. In that match the Blue Raiders hit at a .368 clip behind Carolynne Silva's nine kills on 13 swings. Lindsey Wilson limited Shawnee States attack to a negative hitting percentage as four Blue Raiders recorded three or more blocks.
