Former Blue Raider Sebald produces solid Short Season in Minors

By Charles Balcom
News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - Former Lindsey Wilson baseball standout Scott Sebald just completed an impressive first season in minor league baseball.

Sebald concluded a half-season in the minors with a 1-0 record and a 2.61 earned average run while playing rookie ball in the Arizona League for the Arizona Rangers and in the Class A Short Season Northwest League for the Spokane Indians.

During his two stops, Sebald, who signed a free agent minor league deal with the Texas Rangers back in June, appeared in 14 games from June through September, making three starts. The lefthander appeared in 31 total innings while striking out 34 batters and issuing just 10 walks. Opponents batted .257 against him as he picked up one save in his lone save opportunity. In his five appearances with Spokane, Sebald did not allow an earned run in his 10 innings of relief work.

Sebald, who concluded his four-year career at Lindsey Wilson in 2016, finished with a 29-9 record and a 2.35 ERA in 62 appearances. A two-time, First Team All Mid-South Conference selection, he owns the program records for wins, ERA, strikeouts (312), innings pitched (329) and pitching starts (49).
