COLUMBIA, KY - The second-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team returned to Mid-South Conference action with a 3-0 win over rival Campbellsville (KY) at home on Tuesday night, September 13, 2016.

With the victory for the Blue Raiders (12-0, 3-0 MSC), head coach Andy Cavins earns his 200th career victory.



Lindsey Wilson posted a .307 attacking percentage against the Tigers (10-4, 3-1 MSC), which marks the fourth-straight match the Blue Raiders have hit above .300.

Eileen Acuna led the Blue Raider offense with 14 kills in the match. Acuna was the only player in the match to post double figures in kills and she capped off her double-double with a team-high 12 digs. Madison Molitor chipped in with nine assists, while Makenzie Montano recorded 40 assists, en route to 25-21, 25-9 and 25-22 set victories.

Campbellsville played Lindsey Wilson close in the first set as the score was tied five different times in the set. The Blue Raiders stretched out their lead to 16-8 in the set, but the Tigers countered with a 10-1 run to take their first lead in the set at 18-17.

After Lindsey Wilson regained the lead at 19-18, the match was tied once more down the stretch. The Blue Raiders scored six of the final eight points in the set as they won the first set, 25-21.

Despite falling behind early in the set, Lindsey Wilson grabbed a 9-5 lead which was capped off by an 8-0 run. Following both teams trading points and the Tigers cutting their deficit to four points, the Blue Raiders closed the set on 14-1 run to win set two, 25-9.

In the second set, Lindsey Wilson posted a .371 attacking percentage, while holding Campbellsville to -.030.

The third set started the same as the second set with the Blue Raiders falling behind 4-2 in the early going. Lindsey Wilson answered with an 8-2 run to open up a 10-6 lead. The four-point lead in the third set was the largest the Blue Raiders held as the remainder of the match was tightly contested.

With Lindsey Wilson leading, 15-12, the Tigers went on a 5-0 run to grab the lead. Once the Blue Raiders tied the match at 19, they closed the match on a 6-3 run to finish off the sweep with a 25-22 win in the third set.

The win marks Lindsey Wilson's 34th-straight regular-season win dating back to last season.

As a team the Blue Raiders recorded 56 digs, which is tied for the second most in a match this season.

Next up for Lindsey Wilson is a top-10 matchup on the road against No. 10 Georgetown (Ky.) next Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. CT.

Prior to the varsity match, the Lindsey Wilson junior varsity team picked up a 2-1 win over Campbellsville.

The Blue Raiders dropped the first set, 25-20, but rebounded with a 25-18 victory in set two. Lindsey Wilson completed the come-from-behind victory with 15-11 win in set three.

Rachel Green led the way for the Blue Raiders with 10 kills in the match. Courtney Evans chipped in with eight kills, while Breanna Givens led the team with six digs.

Lindsey Wilson is now 1-1 on the year.
