Powell County woman pleads guilty to adult exploitation

The Attorney General's tip line to report allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation is 877-228-7384.

By Terry Sebastian/Crystal Staley

Frankfort, KY - Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse today announced the guilty plea and sentencing of Bobbie Creech, of Clay City, on one count of Wanton or Reckless Exploitation of an Adult over $300, a Class D felony.

Creech, 32, exploited a Clark County vulnerable adult under her guardianship by cashing the adult's Social Security checks. Creech used the victim's money for her own personal use instead of it going toward the vulnerable adult's medical and living expenses at a Medicaid-funded facility in Clark County.

Creech entered a guilty plea July 7 in Clark County Circuit Court and was sentenced Sept. 1. Creech agreed to a five-year sentence. She will serve 30 days of her sentence in jail. Creech is required to serve the remainder of her five-year sentence on probation, under supervision by the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole.

Creech paid full restitution of $1,650.

Beshear said justice was served to the victim and applauded the joint effort of his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services' Department for Community Based Services, Adult Protective Services and the office of David Smith, Clark County Commonwealth's Attorney, who prosecuted the case.

As part of the mission of the Attorney General's Office, a tip line is available to report allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation - 877-228-7384. Reports may also be made to the Department for Community Based Services at 800-752-6200.
