Cycling pair to be inducted into LWC Athletic Hall of Fame Joe Haley Jeni South-Huff Click on headline for complete story By Chris Wells COLUMBIA, KY - A pair of cyclist will be inducted on October 1, 2016, into the Lindsey Wilson College Athletic Hall of Fame. Joe Haley and Jeni South-Huff are the members of the LWC Athletic Hall of Fame's Class of 2016 - becoming the second and third Lindsey Wilson cyclists to be inducted. "Jeni and Joe were outstanding student-athletes with incredible accomplishments," said Lindsey Wilson Athletics Director Willis Pooler. "They represented the cycling program with great passion and we are very pleased to welcome them into the Lindsey Wilson College Athletic Hall of Fame." The 2016 class will be inducted at 11amCT on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Alumni Awards & Athletic Hall of Fame Celebration at the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. They will also be recognized later that evening at the Lindsey Wilson-Union (KY) football game at Blue Raider Stadium. Haley (1998-2001) won a pair of National Collegiate Cycling Association individual national championships while at Lindsey Wilson. Joe Haley captured the 2000 NCCA Men's Dual Slalom national title - becoming the first male cyclist in Lindsey Wilson history to win an individual national title. His win in the dual slalom propelled Haley to a second-place finish in the overall Omnium and the team to a third-place finish during the championship. In 2001, Haley again made history becoming the first Lindsey Wilson student-athlete to win two individual national titles. He won the NCCA Downhill national title while helping the Blue Raiders to a second straight third-place team finish. Following his time as a student-athlete, Haley competed professionally throughout the United States. Jeni South-Huff (1997-2002) captured the 1997 NCCA Women's Dual Slalom national title becoming the first female in Lindsey Wilson history to win an individual national title. She helped the Blue Raiders to a fourth-place finish during the 1997 championship - one of five top-five team finishes at the mountain biking national championships during South-Huff's career. She won five Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference and regional titles in the women's dual slalom while helping the team capture the conference and regional titles in all five seasons. South-Huff helped Lindsey Wilson win back-to-back NCCA Cyclocross National Championships in 2000 and 2001. She finished in 12th place at each championship. Following her time as a student-athlete, South-Huff spent three seasons as the Lindsey Wilson cycling coach. She led the Blue Raiders to three top-five finishes at the USA Cycling Mountain Biking National Championships and three top-10 finishes at the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships.
