Homer Spears, 84, Casey Co./Pike Co., KY native (1931-2016)

He graduated from Johns Creek High School, Pike County, KY, and attended Ohio University. He retired as Regional Manager from Aramark Textiles in 1985. He was the son of the late George Washington and Edna James Spears. His wife, Sharon Spears, survives. He leaves 12 direct and eight step living descendants.

Homer Spears of Liberty, KY, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was 84 years of age.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 9amCT/10amET, by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY with Bro. Cameron Cain officiating. A private burial will follow in the James Cemetery, Pike County, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Friday at the funeral home.



Homer Spears, 84, Casey County, KY/Pike Co. native (1931-2016)

Born on October 19, 1931 in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late George Washington Spears and Edna James Spears. He died August 16, 2016, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 84 years, nine months and 28 days.

He graduated from Johns Creek High School, Pike County, KY, and attended Ohio University. He retired as Regional Manager from Aramark Textiles in 1985.

Homer is survived by:
  • His wife: Sharon Spears

  • Two sons: Lanny Spears of Wilmore, KY, and Terry Spears of Cadiz, KY

  • Daughter: Robin Sturgill of South Point, Ohio

  • Two step-sons: Scott Harne and Todd Harne of Liberty, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Six step-grandchildren
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edgar Spears, Edward Spears and Grover Spears; three sisters, Eunice Walker, Magdalene Spears, and Nell Ruth Justice; daughter Debra Abbott; and two grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Noel's Chapel First Church of God.
