L.J. Tucker, 91, Adair County, KY (1925-2016)

L. J. was a founding member of the Hovious Mission Church, a proud US Army World War II veteran, and retired from the Kentucky Department of Highways with over 20 years service. He was a widely known gospel singer for many years with the Green River Boys, Victory Quartet and the Singing Tuckers. He was th4e patriarch of a large, highly regarded family.

L. J. Tucker age 91 years of Knifley, KY passed away Thursday July 21, 2016 at 1:52amCT, at the Signature Health & Rehab at Summit Manor in Columbia, KY.

Funeral service: Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2pmCT at Stotts-Phelps- McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. James Brown the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Robinson Chapel Cemetery at Knifley, KY with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097 The family request visiting after 3pmCT, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Stotts-Phelps- McQueary Funeral Home.



L.J. Tucker, 91, Adair County, KY (1925-2016)


He was born May 6, 1925. He was the the son of the late Leslie Erwin and Syrena McKinley Goodin Tucker of Adair County, KY. He died Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, two months, and 15 days.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; Oconal, Dan and Roscoe his wife Eora England Tucker on March 10, 1990. He later married Anna Beatrice Perkins who survives.

He is survived by:
  • Three daughters: Brenda Feese (Frankie) of Knifley, KY; Teresa Burton (Ricky) of Knifley, KY; and Syrena Boston (Terry) of Knifley, KY

  • Seven sons: Lee Tucker (Cathy) of Breeding, KY; Donald Tucker (Cathy) of Columbia, KY; Poochie Tucker (Janice) of Columbia, KY; Gary Tucker (Lisa) Columbia, KY; Wendell Rickie Tucker (Carolyn) of Knifley, KY; Johnnie Tucker (Juanita) of Knifley, KY; Darrell Tucker (Diane) of Knifley, KY

  • Four step daughters: Margie White, Linda Perkins (Bobby), Judy Perkins, and Mary Jo Alfaro all of Knifley, KY

  • One sister: Geneva Fair of Greensburg, KY

  • Twenty-one grandchildren

  • Twenty-nine great grandchildren

  • Four great great grandchildren

  • And a host of step grand and great grandchildren
