LWC Women's Basketball adds Ansley Stalcup for 2016-17

Clinton County High School star joins Lindsey Wilson after single season at Asbury. She ranks 4th all-time in scoring at the Albany, KY, High School.

By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team has added Ansley Stalcup for the upcoming 2016-17 season, head coach John B. Wethington announced on Tuesday.

Stalcup transfers to Lindsey Wilson after playing her freshman season at Asbury (KY) University.

In her lone season with the Eagles, the 5-foot-8 guard appeared in 29 games, shooting 40 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. She twice finished in double figures during the year helping Asbury to a 24-10 record.

Prior to her time at Asbury, Stalcup had an outstanding four-year career at Clinton County High School in Albany, KY. She ranks fourth all-time in the school's history in total points (1,921) and 10th all-time in assists (246). During her senior season at Clinton County, Stalcup averaged 20.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from three-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line.

She helped Clinton County to the 4th Region All "A" Tournament title and a berth into the quarterfinals of the Kentucky State All "A" Tournament her senior year. That same season Stalcup was named a Second Team All Region performer.

"Ansley is a hard worker that can shoot the ball extremely well outside of the perimeter,"

Wethington said. "She comes to us with a year of collegiate basketball experience and was on a team that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament Second Round. She adds more depth to the guard position and will be a strong asset for us as the season moves along."
