Driver airlifted after single vehicle accident 8 Jul 2016

Driver reportedly fell asleep ath the wheel after working a late shift assisting in restoring power. 1997 Jeep leaves roadway, driver ejected and thorown approximately 70-80 feet before coming to rest in field. Victim treated on the at scene by Adair County EMS, airlifted to UL Hospital.

On Friday, July 8, 2016 at 06:01amCT, Deputy Aaron Rainwater of the Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle accident 1 1/2 miles east of Columbia on Liberty Road.



Derick Bray 24 of Columbia was operating a 1997 Jeep east bound on Liberty Road when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel after working a late shift assisting in the power outage.

The vehicle hit the shoulder of the road and flipped end over end going through a fence and coming to rest on its side.

The operator was ejected from the vehicle and thrown approximately 70 - 80 feet coming to rest in a field.

Mr. Bray was treated at the scene by Adair County EMS and later flown to University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY. - Aaron Rainwater, Deputy Sheriff, Adair County Sheriff's Office
