Arvis Eugene Kearns, 84, of Russell Springs, died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY.

Funeral service for Arvis Eugene Kearns will be 10amCT, Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, KY 92, Russell County, KY. Visitation will be after 6pmCT, Sunday at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 8:30amCT, Monday at the church. Interment in the Otha Helm Cemetery.



Arvus Eugene Kearns, 84, Russell Springs, KY (1931-2016)


He was born August 4, 1931 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Johnnie Milton & Jewell Andrew Kearns. He died Thursday, June 23, 2016, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 84 years, 10 monhts, and 19 days.

He was a automotive factory worker and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ovalene Stone, Dreuzella Cunningham, Suzie Darlene Stegal, and Gladys Marlene Kearns.

Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Jennie Kearns, Russell Springs, KY

  • Four children: Arvis Ray (Esther) Kearns, Stanton, KY; Ruby Lynn Kearns, Columbia, KY; Margaret Whitehead, Russell Springs, KY; and Alan F. (Nicole) Kearns, Concord, NC

  • Five grandchildren: Natascha (Ryan) Hemmelgarn, Casey (Natasha) Kirk, April (Jacob) Jackson, Lili Kearns, and Meghan Whitehead

  • Five great grandchildren: Jamie & Sophia Hemmelgarn, Ayden & Emily Kirk, and Josephine Jackson

  • One sister: Nellie Pennington

  • One brother: Arlious "Buddy" Kearns

  • Two half brothers: Johnny Paul Kearns and William Floyd Kearns

  • Two half sisters: Donna Abbney and Mary Ann Kocher

  • Stepmother: Kathlean Kearns
The family requests memorials to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
