Miss Victoria: Anyone know officially when ABC sales begin? Six locations, 5 in City of Columbia, one at Knifley, have had inspections. (Alcoholic Beverage Control - ABC - Licenses Look Up Portal). Click on headline for complete letter and what we've learned so far. Victoria Pike writes: Has anyone gotten official word on when alcohol sales begin? - Victoria pikeYou'll just have to hold you horses: When the time is right, everyone will know. I have just gotten off the phone with the head of the Columbia ABC who said that Fiesta Mexico and the four 5-Star outlets were inspected during this past week and that the best information is that the stores will receive a letter in the US mail telling them when their license has been issued, then the Commisioner will be notified by email. Then the issuance of the license will be posted online. The Commissioner said that she is not aware, at this time, whether the stores can immediately start sales once the license is issued or if there is another inspection after the store is stocked. The Commissioner said that she was told that typically the licenses are issued 10-14 days after the initial inspection. We also have a call in to the Adair County ABC Commissioner to see when a county store might open. Who knows? Knifley may been the for bragging rights as the first alcoholic beverage sales outlet since Prohibition was ended by the March 5, 2016 vote. - EW This story was posted on 2016-06-24 14:13:29
