LWC Cycling 2015-2016 Year in Review By Charlie Balcom Sabrina Bice becoming the 30th Blue Raider to capture an individual national championship and the BMX team finishing as the national runner-up highlighted another strong year from the Lindsey Wilson cycling program in 2015-16. Bice became the 17th different Blue Raider to capture a cycling national title after taking home the individual victory at the 2016 Collegiate BMX National Championships. As a team, the Lindsey Wilson BMX squad narrowly missed out on the national title after claiming second place at the championship event. Lindsey Wilson opened the competitive season in September with strong showings at the Georgia Tech and Lee's McRae College races. Dakotah Norton won the men's "A" downhill race at Georgia Tech as J.D. Swanguen took fifth place in the race. Wyatt Myers added a third place in the short track cross country event, while Heather Collman, Brianna Delamare and Adrian Sanders all finished in the top five of the women's "A" downhill race. At the Lee's McRae event, the Blue Raiders swept all top-five placements in the women's "A" dual slalom, led by Collman's victory. Alec Faught added a win in the men's "B" dual slalom, while Brandon McDowell finished third in the men's "A" dual slalom. At the Lindsey Wilson Mountain Bike race, Bice, Swanguen and Cody Whitenack all collected individual event wins. The Blue Raiders competed in four national championship disciplines throughout the season, beginning with the Track Collegiate National Championships in September. Lindsey Wilson finished with a ninth-place team finish led by Myers, David Novak and Michael Hart. At the Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships, the Blue Raiders captured a fifth-place team finish. Sanders nearly added her name to the list of national champions after she finished as the national runner-up. Lindsey Wilson riders added three more top-five finishes at the national event. After the BMX National Championships, Lindsey Wilson opened up the road race season in March. Josiah Peterson won the men's "B" criterium race at Georgia Tech and Myers won the men's "A" criterium at the SECC Conference Championships. At the Collegiate Road National Championships, the trio of Myers, Peterson and Hart led Lindsey Wilson to a 33rd-place finish to conclude the 2015-16 campaign.
