Memorial Day Tribute from Doug Beard By Doug Beard I would like to take this opportunity to thank those dedicated citizens and corporate sponsors who took the time and provided the American flags which were placed on the graves of our nation’s veterans in the Columbia Cemetery. It exhibits great respect and honors those who fought to keep America a free and independent nation. As I observed the flag, placed on the final resting place of my father, a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, it provided a very special moment of reflection. Also, two of my favorite quotes - accompanying photo- which have the greatest meaning for me during this Memorial Day week were delivered by 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. I often reflect on many of the historic words of one of our greatest presidents each time I pass his birthplace in Hodgenville. This story was posted on 2016-05-23 00:44:11
