CMS math teacher Tammy Hash receives Dare to Soar award 'She is a teacher who goes above and beyond and not only pushes her students in the classroom, but encourages them by attending their athletic events outside of school.' - CMS Principal Alisha Rhodes of award recipient Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Calen McKinney (Tue 10 May 2016) - Campbellsville Middle School fifth-grade math teacher Tammy Hash was awarded the Dare to Soar award at Monday night's regular Campbellsville Board of Education meeting. Hash was unable to attend the meeting, however, so she received the honor on Tuesday from CMS Principal Elisha Rhodes. Rhodes nominated Hash for the award. During Monday's meeting, Campbellsville Independent Schools Superintendent Mike Deaton read Hash's nomination letter. "Mrs. Hash is a teacher who all principals want on staff," Deaton said. Rhodes wrote that she has watched Hash grow in the classroom and also as a leader. "She has truly found her calling as a member of our adult lighthouse team and sponsor of the student lighthouse team," Deaton read. Hash has also taken on the leadership role of sponsoring the student Pep Club, and, as Rhodes wrote, worked diligently to improve the culture at CMS. "This year alone, we have had record turnouts at our sporting events, as well as students painted up to support our athletes, all thanks to the work of Mrs. Tammy Hash," Deaton wrote. "She is a teacher who goes above and beyond and not only pushes her students in the classroom, but encourages them by attending their athletic events outside of school." Hash has taught at CMS since 2003. She is married to Garin Hash and they have two children, Austin, who is a senior at Campbellsville High School, and Arren, who is a seventh-grader at CMS. Calen McKinney, the writer of this story, is Public Information officer for the Campbellsville Independent School District. This story was posted on 2016-05-11 03:35:36
