Mrs. Madie Lee Sharp Brown of Salt Lick Bend Road, Kettle, KY passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Cumberland County Hospital, Burkesville, KY

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 2pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY with Bro. Tommy Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Stalcup Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 until the funeral hour on Sunday.



Mrs. Madie Lee Sharp Brown, 95, Kettle, KY (1921-2016)


She was born on Monday, February 14, 1921 in the Cary Ridge Community of Cumberland County, KY She was the daughter of Eular and Lucy (White) Sharp. She died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Cumberland County Hospital, Burkesville, KY, having attained the age of 95 years, 2 months, and 21 days.

She was a member of the Hickory Grove Church of Christ and a seamstress for Kent Uniforms and Bob Evans Manufacturing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy F. Brown; her son, Douglas Lynn Brown; her brothers, Fred Sharp, Dennis Sharp, and Grady Sharp; and her sister, Mamie Hopper.

She is survived by:
  • Her three children, Barbara (and Paul) Short of Leslie, KY, Billy Wayne (and Linda) Brown of Indianapolis, In. and Kenneth (and Betty) Brown of Kettle, KY

  • Five grandchildren, Jeff Short, Robby Brown, Chris Brown, Carla Dubre, David Brown

  • Nine great-grandchildren: Tyler Dubre, Jessica Dubre, Jimmie Lee Dubre, Katie Brown, Dakota Brown, Mason Brown, Sasha Brown, Gabby Brown, and Clayton Brown.

  • One great-great-grandchild: Paislee Richardson
