Ashton, Lebron and Sebald earn First Team All-MSC honors By Charlie Balcom Three members of the Lindsey Wilson baseball team earned First Team All Mid-South Conference honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Aaron Ashton, Edgar Lebron and Scott Sebald all earned the nod on the conference's 19-man first team. Ashton and Sebald both earn their second MSC First Team selections of their careers, while Lebron picks up his first career honor. Ashton posted a .331 batting average during the regular season, starting all 50 games he played in. He scored 30 times, finished second on the team in hits (55), total bases (86), home runs (6) and on-base percentage (.444). Ashton posted team-highs in doubles (13), RBIs (48) and walks (31). He ranks in the top five in the conference in five different offensive categories. Lebron led the Blue Raiders in batting average with a .350 mark, starting all 49 games he played in. He scored 50 times, 15 more than the next Blue Raider, while leading the team in hits (62), triples (3), total bases (87) and stolen bases (19). His runs scored and total hits were the most in the conference this season. Sebald posted a 3.01 ERA in his 12 appearances during the regular season, all starts. He recorded a 7-3 record with two-complete games and one shutout. Sebald tossed a team-high 80.2 innings and led the team in strikeouts with 84 and held his opponents to a .241 batting average. He ranks in the top five in the conference in multiple statistical categories including the most strikeouts this season. The trio helped the Blue Raiders to a 33-20 regular season record, including a share of the 2016 MSC regular season title and the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. St. Catharine's (Ky.) Alfredo Bohorquez is the MSC Player of Year while teammate Daniel Lerma is the MSC Pitcher of the Year. Georgetown's (Ky.) Ryan Garner and St. Catharine's Joseph Martin were selected MSC Baseball Co-Freshmen of the Year while Pikeville's Jim Pitt was voted on by his peers as the conference's coach of the year.
