Mrs. Eva Kathern Akin, 77, of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital.

The funeral services for Mrs. Kathern Akin will be conducted at 1pmCT, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the A.H. Akin Family Cemetery in Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Scott Coates, Bro. John Hargan officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pm until 8pmCT, Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Saturday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Davy Martin, Jason Milby, Chris Whitlock, Mikeal DeSpain, Randy Milby, Bill Hargan, Gary Smith Darrell Smith Honorary Pallbearers: Eric Cornelison, Jamie Jeffries, Luke Patterson, Gordon Judd, Tim York, and Tim Simpson.

Kathern Akin, 77, Green County, KY (1938-2016)

Mrs. Eva Kathern Akin of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Coy Bagby and Edna Oakes Bagby, was born on June 19, 1938 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. She was 77 years, 10 months, and 7 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was also a homemaker, gardener and farmer.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Theodore Archie Akin having united in marriage on June 15, 1957.

Other survivors include:
  • A son: Archie Akin of Greensburg, KY

  • a brother and sister-in-law: Howard and Pat Bagby of Greensburg, KY

  • Three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Geraldean and Ronnie Russell, Laverne and Billy Marple, and Evelyn Milby all of Greensburg, KY

  • Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert Akin, Milerdine Paxton both of Greensburg, KY; and Clara Bagby of Campbellsville, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Akin was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister: Odell Bagby, Eudell Bagby, Kenneth Bagby, and Hattie Edmonds.
