Ines Khiyara joins LWC Swim Team for 2016-17

By Charlie Balcom

The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming program has added Ines Khiyara for the upcoming 2016-17 season, head coach Alicia Kemnitz announced on Thursday.

Khiyara is an international student-athlete that comes from Belgium, where she has been swimming competitively for seven years.

She has participated in multiple international youth competitions, including the Comen Cup in Spain in 2012, the African Youth Games in Botswana and the Senior Arab Championships in Morocco in 2014, and the 2015 Arab Youth Championships in Dubai where she collected multiple medals. Khiyara even competed at the FINA (International Swimming Federation) World Cup in 2014 where she took home sixth place in the 200 breaststroke.

"Ines has an impressive swimming background and will be able to make an immediate positive impact on our women's squad. I believe she has the potential to be one of the best breaststrokers in the NAIA," Kemnitz said. "She is also very academically motivated, which is a perfect fit for our team. I look forward to tapping into her potential and seeing her do great things on the national level of NAIA swimming."
