Ora Gadberry, 82, Casey Co., KY (1933-2016)

She was a homemaker and member of the Ferndale Baptist Church. She was a former Sunday school teacher and took care of the birthday fund at church. She loved to garden and crochet. She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late John Jacob Smith and Mary Ellis Dick Smith, and the widow of Preston Taylor Gadberry. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Ora Gadberry passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at her home in Casey County, KY. She was 82 years young.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Ferndale Baptist Church, Liberty, KY, with Bro Larold Gosser, Bro. David Terwilliger, and Bro. Gary Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Spaw Cemetery. Visitation is 5pm-7pmCT/6pm-8pmET, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, and will continue Wednesday from 7amCT/8amET until 11amCT/12pmET at the funeral home. Visitation is Wednesday at Ferndale Baptist Church from 12pmCT/1pmCT until the funeral hour.



Pallbearers are Terry Gadberry, Jesse Hines, Gary Evans, Mike Woodrum, Adam Hines, and Billy Ray Duncan. Honorary pallbearer is Colton Hines.

Born May 11, 1933 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late John Jacob Smith and Mary Ellis Dick Smith. She died Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and six days.

She was a homemaker and member of the Ferndale Baptist Church. She was a former Sunday school teacher and took care of the birthday fund at church. She loved to garden and crochet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Taylor Gadberry, who died October 21, 1985; three brothers, Oliver, Oscar, and William Smith; and four sisters, Irene Hanson, Della McAninch, Manilla Ellison and Rella Hines.

Survivors include:
  • A son: Terry Lee Gadberry of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Linda Gail (and Jesse) Hines and Joanna Fay (and Gary) Evans, both of Liberty, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Stacy Hines (and Mike) Woodrum and Miranda Evans (and Adam) Hines

  • Two great-grandchildren: Colton Issac Hines and Payton Mills

  • Brother: Ancil (and Louise) Smith of Edinburgh, IN

  • Two sisters: Christine Hansford and Marie Drostie, both of Liberty, KY
