COLUMBIA, KY (12 Apr 2016) The 25th-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team lost a top-25 matchup to sixth-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Egnew Park, 11-2.

Jan Carlos Ortiz and Miguel Reyes each recorded two hits for the Blue Raiders (28-17), while Alec Salcedo drove in a run and scored a run against the Bulldogs (30-9). Dustin Woody drove in the final Lindsey Wilson run.

After starting the top of the first inning with a strikeout, Tennessee Wesleyan sent a single up the middle. After a stolen base and an error from the Blue Raiders, the Bulldogs had a runner on third base with one out in the inning. A second-straight single from Tennessee Wesleyan scored the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the second inning, Lindsey Wilson looked to get on the board with a pair of one-out singles, but the Blue Raiders left both runners stranded on base at the end of the inning.

Daniel Ferrell started to find his rhythm on the mound as he retired nine-straight batters after the back-to-back singles in the first inning. The Bulldog offense was able to get Ferrell out his groove in the fourth inning as they scored four runs on five hits. The Blue Raiders were able to get the first batter of the inning out, but the Bulldogs strung together a walk and four hits before their next out to take a 4-0 lead. Tennessee Wesleyan capped off their scoring in the inning with a single through the right side of the infield to take a 5-0 lead.

In the fifth inning, the Bulldogs continued to add onto their lead with three runs on four hits and three Lindsey Wilson errors. Tennessee Wesleyan took a 9-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Blue Raiders were able to string a few hits together in the home half of the fifth inning to cut into their deficit. Reyes led off the inning with a single up the middle and Salcedo delivered a triple off the wall in right-centerfield to score Reyes. One batter later, Woody scored Salcedo with a sacrifice fly to left-centerfield.

Lindsey Wilson continued to try to chip away at their deficit but they left two runners on base in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh inning.

After leaving the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning without scoring a run, Tennessee Wesleyan tacked on two more runs in the ninth inning to take an 11-2 lead.

With one last chance to make a comeback, the Blue Raiders were unable to cut their deficit after they left two runners in scoring position, as they lost the game 11-2.

Ferrell (6-3) pitched four innings allowing five runs on seven hits, while striking out three batters. Sam Ross also contributed four innings on the mound, surrendering four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits. Larry Stewart was the final Blue Raider to take the mound as he pitched the ninth inning allowing two runs on one hit.

Chevis Hoover (4-1) pitched seven innings for the Bulldogs allowing two runs on four hits, while recording seven strikeouts.
