Adair 6th District Constable arrests driver on Knifley Road

'As Constable Rector stopped to render assistance, 23-year-old Michael Harris appeared to be under the influence and fled the scene.' Harris apprehended after crashing into a tree house on Ed Irvin Road, Constable's office says. Officers from Columbia Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Adair County Sheriffs Office and the Adair County Emergency Management Office assisted at the scene.
Issuance of warrants and/or arrests are not findings of guilt. An individual charged by police or in a warrant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The District Six Constable arrest occurred on Sat 9 April 2016, at 07:27pmCT, when Constable Rector observed a vehicle off the road through a fence 4 miles out Knifley Road (Hwy 551).



As Constable Rector stopped to render assistance, 23-year-old Michael Harris appeared to be under the influence and fled the scene. Constable Rector initiated emergency equipment and upon the vehicle coming to a stop after crashing into a tree house on Ed Irvin Road, Harris then fled on foot. After continued searches, Officers were able to locate Harris.

After contact and investigation Harris was arrested and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of:
  • Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle

  • Operating Motor Vehicle Under/Influence of Alcohol/Drugs (Agg Circumstances) 1st Off

  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)

  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)

  • Leaving scene of Accident-Failure to render aid or assistance

  • Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree (2 counts)

  • Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree (2 counts)

  • Reckless Driving

  • Driving DUI Suspended License-2nd Offense
Constable Rector was assisted by Officers from Columbia Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Adair County Sheriffs Office and the Adair County Emergency Management Office.
