LWC baseball hosts three-game MSC series against Cumberland

COLUMBIA, KY (Fri 8 Apr 2016 - The 24th-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team is back in action on starting with a single game at 2pmCT Saturday, April 9, 2016, and a doubleheader at 12pmNoonCT, Sunday, April 10, 2016, as they host Cumberland (TN) at Egnew Park, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The three-series was originally scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday, but forecasted incoming weather into the Columbia area, forced the series to be pushed back one day to Saturday and Sunday.



The Blue Raiders enter the weekend with a record of 26-15 and they have lost their last four games. Lindsey Wilson is currently tied for second in the Mid-South Conference standings with No. 21 Campbellsville (KY) and Cumberland as they all sit at 7-5. Pikeville (KY) leads the way with a record of 8-4.

Edgar Lebron leads the Blue Raiders with a .376 batting average and 50 hits, to go along with 37 runs scored this season. Aaron Ashton has a team-high 42 RBIs, while posting six homeruns and a .350 batting average.

On the mound, Lindsey Wilson has posted a 4.40 ERA in 319 and 1/3 innings of work. Scott Sebald has posted a team-high 60 strikeouts, while Daniel Ferrell leads the Blue Raiders with six wins of the year.

Cumberland has won seven of their last eight games coming into this weekend. No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett put an end to Phoenix's seven-game win streak as the Grizzlies beat Cumberland, 6-3, on Wednesday.

The Phoenix are 24-17 on the season and they are 7-5 in the Mid-South Conference. Ryan Dickison has led Cumberland this season with 48 hits and a .369 batting average. The Phoenix pitching staff has 3.69 ERA, while holding the opposition to a .271 batting average.

Last season, the Phoenix won two of the three regular season meetings against Lindsey Wilson. However, the Blue Raiders beat Cumberland, 2-0, in the MSC Tournament. Live stats and live video are available for all three games of the weekend series between Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland. The series starts at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday at Egnew Park.
