LWC golf gears up for MSC Spring Tournament

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's golf teams are set compete at the Campbellsville (Ky.) Invitational. The event is also the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament. Competition started at 9:30amCT today at the Campbellsville Country Club.

At the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament in McDermott, Ohio, the men's team posted a third-place finish out of eight teams, while the women finished fourth out of seven teams.


The men's team comes into the competition after finishing fourth out of 12 teams at the Challenge at Dalhousie in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Ryan Nowe and Federico Navarro were the top two finishers for the Blue Raiders at the event as they finished tied for 17th with a pair of 12-over par 156s.

On the women's side, they are coming into the event at finishing in fifth place out 15 teams at the TPC Deere Run Invitational in Silvis, Ill. Cristina Jimenez led Lindsey Wilson as she finished tied for third with a 13-over par 157.

In the men's tournament, the Blue Raiders are joined in the field by MSC foes Cumberland (Tenn.), Cumberlands (Ky.), Shawnee State (Ohio), Pikeville (Ky.) Campbellsville, St. Catharine (Ky.) and Georgetown (Ky.). West Virginia Tech is scheduled to be the only non-MSC school in the field.

The Lindsey Wilson women's team is slated to compete against MSC opponents Cumberlands, Campbellsville, Cumberland, Pikeville, Georgetown and St. Catharine. Non-conference teams Bellarmine (Ky.) and Midway (Ky.) are also slated to compete in the tournament.
