CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - After scoring the opening run of the game, the Lindsey Wilson baseball team was shut out over the final eight innings as Campbellsville (KY) took down the Blue Raiders 3-1 in the first contest of a three-game Mid-South Conference series on Friday night, April 1, 2016, at Hig Field.

The No. 10-ranked Blue Raiders (26-12, 7-3 MSC) managed to score one run for just the third time all season as Lindsey Wilson was limited to five hits in the loss to the Tigers (20-11, 5-5 MSC).

That lone run came in the top of the first inning as Alec Salcedo led off the game with a single. After Edgar Lebron was hit by a pitch, the duo moved up to second and third on a fly out. A wild pitch ensued on the next batter, allowing Salcedo to score, as Lebron attempted to score as well on the play. The throw from the catcher to the pitcher, who was covering home plate on the wild pitch that allowed Salcedo to score, got away and trickled up the third base line. Lebron attempted to score, but was caught out after the third baseman picked up the ball and threw home to the pitcher for the tag out.

From that point on, Lindsey Wilson managed just four more hits and was only able to put eight more runners on base, making it to third base just twice for the remainder of the game.

Campbellsville answered the Blue Raiders' opening run with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first after a single, wild pitch, passed ball, and another single drove in the tying run.

The game then went into a pitcher's duel as Lindsey Wilson starter Scott Sebald and Campbellsville's Nick Przybylek traded four scoreless innings from the second to the fifth.

The Tigers secured the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth after a two-out, RBI single by Riley Joyce scored Casey Scott, who opened the inning with a double. Lindsey Wilson attempted a response in the top of the seventh with a pair of singles and stolen bases with one out, but a strikeout and groundout ended the inning.

Campbellsville tacked on one more insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a pair of singles and after a leadoff walk, the Blue Raiders were retired in order in the top of the ninth as the Tigers claimed the 3-1 win.

Sebald (5-2) took the complete-game loss on the mound, allowing all three earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts. Przybylek took the win tossing seven and 2/3 innings while allowing the one earned run on five hits with six strikeouts. Tiger closer Jake Pannunzio closed out the game after entering in the eighth, holding the Blue Raiders hitless in one and 1/3 innings.

Salcedo and Jan Carlos Ortiz combined for four of the Blue Raiders' five hits. It marks the second time all season Lindsey Wilson has held without an RBI. Cody Erickson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Tigers.
