Russell County man charged with wanton endangerment Incident occurs in the Jabez community of Russell County, KY Issuance of warrants and/or arrests are not findings of guilt. Click on headline for complete story By TFC William Gregory, Public Information Officer Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY (Fri 1 Apr 2016) - 45-year-old Virgil H. Chapman, of Nancy, has been arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree-Police Officer, Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence) and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. The arrest occurred after units from Post 15 responded to 305 Collett Lane, Jabez in reference to a domestic violence call from the alleged victim and spouse, Cora Chapman. The call was made on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at approximately 10:54pmCT. Chapman advised that she and her husband had been arguing and when she attempted to leave the residence, he shot at her. She was able to get away but left the couples' three children in the home. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots coming from around the area of the residence. They were able to locate the children in the residence and remove them without incident and with no injuries. During a search of the surrounding wooded area, Virgil Chapman was located and arrested at approximately 4:18amCT. Chapman is lodged in the Russell County Jail. Tpr. Billy Begley is investigating.
