Courtney Sandlin earns NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors

By Charlie Balcom

Lindsey Wilson junior Courtney Sandlin has been named a 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, the national office announced on Monday.

Sandlin becomes the first Blue Raider to earn the national academic honor since the 2012-13 season when a trio of former women's basketball student-athletes received the award. She becomes just the 22nd recipient in program history to earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Sandlin joins 110 other women's basketball student-athletes from across the NAIA as recipients of the national honor.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The Blue Raiders recently concluded their season with their first-ever appearance in the NAIA National Quarterfinals.
