COLUMBIA, KY – Former Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball student-athlete Kalen Kimberland has been selected to compete in the inaugural season of the Central Basketball Association Brazil, a professional league where the only American imports that are permitted to play in the league are players that have played in the CBA.

Kimberland, who competes for the CBA’s Bowling Green Hornets, a minor league basketball team, is one of two American players chosen to compete in the inaugural CBA Brazil season.

The six-foot Kimberland averaged 22.7 points per game, 4.3 assists per game, and 3.7 steals per game while playing on an exhibition tour in Rio de Janeiro with the CBA Global Team during the fall of 2015.

With the Bowling Green Hornets, Kimberland averaged 21.4 points per game, 3.2 assists per game, and 2.8 steals per game, leading the team to their first CBA Championship title in 2015. He earned Most Valuable Player honors during the postseason tournament, posting 26.7 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, 4.7 assists per game, and 3.3 steals per game.

Kimberland played four seasons with Lindsey Wilson from 2009-13. He competed in 120 games during his Blue Raider career averaging 12.4 points per game while maintaining a 42.5 percent field-goal percentage. The Columbia, Kentucky, native helped lead Lindsey Wilson to the NAIA Fab Four during the 2012-13 season as a senior.

Kimberland is set to join Blue Diamond in the Santa Catarina Division of CBA Brazil. The league was formed last summer through the Central Basketball Association and its affiliates and partners in South America. The league preseason games are set to begin next weekend, with Kimberland making his home debut on Saturday.
