CPD, investigating theft, arrest woman on multiple charges Twenty-three year old Jamestown woman also faces multiple drug charges, including promoting contraband 1st degree for not revealing she had 121 pills hidden in her underclothing before entering a correctional facility. Issuance of warrants and/or arrests are not findings of guilt. An individual charged by police or in a warrant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. Josh Brockman, Public Information Officer Columbia Police Department, Chief, Jason Cross The Columbia Police Department responded to a local retailer on a reported of theft of merchandise, on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Upon arrival officers came into contact with 23-year-old Melinda Belt of Jamestown KY. Upon probable cause supported by witness statement, Belt was placed into custody. During further investigation it was found that she was in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. She was placed under arrest by CPD Ofc. Johnny Dial for:
Belt now faces an additional charge of Promoting Contraband 1st Degree for not revealing to officers after given a chance that she had controlled substances hid on her person before entering a correctional facility.
