Parden and Fourman sweep Player of the Week honors

By Charlie Balcom

Lyndsey Parden has been named the Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week and teammate Sydney Fourman is the MSC Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Parden earned MSC Pitcher of the Week honors after picking up three wins in three games last week for the Blue Raiders.

In her first appearance, the senior from McDonough, Ga., pitched a complete game shutout against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) en route to an 8-0 win in six innings. Parden struck out nine batters and allowed just two hits.

In Lindsey Wilson's first game of a doubleheader with Union (Ky.), she threw one and 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win as she had a pair of strikeouts without allowing a hit.

Parden also came out of the bullpen in the second game against the Bulldogs and threw six scoreless innings allowing just two hits, while posting five more strikeouts.

It is Parden's first weekly honor of the season and the second of her career.

Fourman went 5-for-7 at the plate with three home runs and seven RBIs as the Blue Raiders picked up four wins during the week.

In the doubleheader against Olivet Nazarene, the sophomore from Somerset, Ky., was 1-for-2 at the plate as she hit a three-run home run, while also walking once. In the second game against the Tigers, she did not record an official at bat, but was walked once.

Against Union, she was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with two home runs and three RBIs as she led the team to a 3-1 victory in game one. Fourman had two more hits in the second game against the Bulldogs, while scoring two runs and driving one more run in.

Lindsey Wilson is now 7-3 on the season.

Fourman earns her first player of the week honor of the season and of her career.
