Stevens breaks school record in Triple Jump as Lindsey Wilson Women's Track & Field takes third at DePauw Classic

GREENCASTLE, IN - The Lindsey Wilson women's indoor track & field team put together a third-place finish on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the DePauw Classic.

The Blue Raiders racked up 98 total team points in the nine-team event to finish behind meet winner Taylor (IN) (205 points) and runner-up Huntington (IN) (107 points).

Kimberley Stevens had the biggest highlight of the day as she broke the program's record and the DePauw Classic meet record in the triple jump event. She leapt a distance of 11.90 meters, securing a national standard and breaking the previous school record of 11.83 meters set by Janice Brown last season. The jump also broke the meet record of 11.64 meters set two seasons ago. Stevens' distance ranks second in the NAIA this season.

Alexia DeHaven-Boyd grabbed a runner-up finish in the 60 meter dash event with a time of 8.07. She trailed only Christiana Hicks of Huntington who won the event with a time of 7.89 seconds. Vashawnda Smith also scored for the Blue Raiders in the event, taking seventh place with a time of 8.28.

Boyd went on to add a fifth-place finish in the 200 meter dash, a third-place finish in the 400 meter dash and a sixth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles. In the distance track events, Kaylin Anderson captured fourth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.26, followed by teammate Allyson Davis in sixth place at 2:37.09

Davis would go on to place sixth in the one mile run, while Maria Cozzens also captured a sixth place in the 5,000 meter run.

Annesha Harris secured a runner-up finish in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the tape in 9.77 seconds. Brandy Baas took fifth place in the event with a time of 10.23 seconds.

Harris added another runner-up finish in the long jump event with a distance of 5.27 meters, narrowly missing out a national standard. Right behind her in third was Stevens at 5.18 meters, followed by Oreatha Hurt in sixth at 4.91 meters.

Harris would also finish fourth in the triple jump at 10.79 meters, followed immediately by teammate Kerry-Ann Walker in fifth at 10.65 meters.
