The Kentucky School Board Association will hold its 80th annual conference, Friday-Saturday, February 26-27, 2016, at the Galt House, 140 N Fourth Street, Louisville, KY. "From Chalkboards to White Boards" The theme of this year's conference is a testiment to the organization's unwavering support over the last 80 years while the traditional classroom has changed dramatically.

The mission has not changed as the typical classroom setting has taken on many "remodels". In the times of the cyber classroom and smart boards some may still remember the subtle crack of firewood warming the one room school house. The gentle tap and drag of chalk on the board as the teacher scribes the day's lesson is a not too distant memory.

It is refreshing to know that though our classroom surroundings have changed our commitment to Kentucky's schools and students has not waivered.

It is a tradition of the conference to decorate with banners inspired by the year's theme coming from all participating districts. This banner created by Adair County student Kayla Parnell will be featured during the Kentucky School Board Association conference. Kayla is a Senior student in Ms. Cayce Davenport's art class. --Cayce Davenport
