LWC Football inks 42 on National Signing Day Local area signees include Charles Johnson of Campbellsville, Mason Helton of Somerset, and Andrew Hughes of Glasgow. By Chris Wells The Lindsey Wilson football team has signed 42 student-athletes to NAIA scholarships, LWC football head coach Chris Oliver announced this afternoon. "As our program has matured and become stronger over the years, so have our recruiting classes," Oliver said. "To say that we are excited about the class that signed today would be an understatement." The 42 student-athletes come from seven states -- Kentucky (25), Alabama (6), Tennessee (6), Indiana (2), Ohio (1), Georgia (1) and Florida (1). "This is a very strong class, and these young men will provide outstanding depth and competition on our roster next fall," Oliver said. "Some of them will come in and compete right away, and that's a heck of a compliment because I think very highly about the talent level of the guys already on campus." Lindsey Wilson is coming off a second straight appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series. The Blue Raiders finished 2015 with an 8-3 record and ranked 13th in the postseason edition of the NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll. Oliver is proud of the direction of the program that he and his coaching staff built from scratch in 2010. "We have worked hard over the past seven years to make the Blue Raider football program a household name within our recruiting footprint, and we're seeing that hard work pay off with the types of young men we're attracting," Oliver said. "Our assistant coaches deserve a lot of credit for their work ethic and the first class way they go about their business throughout the recruiting process. Today was a great day for our program."
